We all have to have “the talk” sooner or later. You know. How flowers turn into birds when their petals get too big. And how bees, drawn to the pollen still clinging to the birds’ feathers, follow the book bandits to their nests in the limbs of trees and under the eaves of houses. And how the birds, remembering the incessant buzzing and tickling of their petals, despise the bees and, out of anger, lay eggs in their beds of paper in an effort to squash the vile creatures, and those eggs hold sprouts that will one day, in a brief moment of extraordinary strength, break through the shells and grow and blossom, gloriously, into fine, stately flowers. And how miracles happen every day and we just walk on by, swatting at bees, unaware of the great circle of life.
