"But mistakes are OK. They’re not something I really set out to make — that’s not really a mistake, is it? But when I make one, it’s not the end of the world. It opens all these possibilities for me, because if I’ve already ruined it, then it can’t get any worse. You’re free to try all these things that you wouldn’t necessarily try if you were going to mess up the most beautiful picture you’ve ever made. You’re not going to take that risk. But once you’ve made that mistake, you’re able to take the risk, and those pictures have actually become my favorite pictures."
